When someone is able affirm who they are as a people in society to others demonstrates the fact that they have found their self identity. It often becomes as a sort of journey for any developing mind to ponder, "Who am I, really?". Like the bustling parent or the stressed scholastic pupil, everyone is looking for the end where they can be assured of themselves. I was one of these people whom were but mere leaves floating in the air without any substance. I could never understand why my demeanor was just a blend of traits I had absorbed from the various people I had encountered in my short lifespan. There was not a trace of originality which ultimately made me feel empty and alone on the way home.

That was until I had encountered my saving grace, religion. I never was a youth that would seek spiritual guidance from my parents as I always just ran about my days not giving a thought to God. This all changed when I went to a little corner of the boisterous city of New York City where I attended my very first Jewish synagogue. While not adamant of at the prospect at first, my mother became the ultimate driving force of motivation for me to go every saturday. While there were instances of annoyance on my end, I ultimately felt satisfied and at peace on the day's end. What is strange was how in the morning I would scold at the thought of getting on that cold and crowded train to attend service for 4 hours just to come back at night to mountains of homework for Sunday's night when
