Getting graduated from a University makes oneself a literate. EDUCATION is beyond just literacy.
Education could be either formal or informal. Formal education is the one, which a student attains by going to school. Whereas informal education is tacit, which is attained after having got enough of experience. Clearly, it has nothing to do with mere making money.
However, one has to attain minimum qualifications for getting a job/ persueing any career. I believe that people usually get confused between these two.
Literacy is the ability to read and write well grammatically. Having said that, EDUCATION leads to the following:
It should help oneself to develop one's personality
It imparts value based thinking
It helps in gaining knowledge
It should keep the brain young by allowing the process of continuous learning
It shall develop a perspective of looking at life
It makes someone capable of interpreting things
It should help in setting one's career as well, which brings me to the following conclusion
It surely helps to get bread and butter for satiating one's hunger, but is not limited to it.
