We already know that they take in the carbon dioxide breathed out by animals and released by various human activities and give out oxygen thus maintaining a balance in atmospheric gasses. All the green plants perform the process of photosynthesis for which they require carbon dioxide. Large amounts of carbon dioxide are released by miscellaneous human activities like breathing, burning of fossil fuels, transportation, industrial manufacturing plants, and deforestation. But carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas and high concentration of it in our environment can be very dangerous. Here plants be at our service and help in reducing the level of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. But if there won’t be enough plants on the planet then not only the pollution will increase alarmingly, but other serious issues like global warming, ozone layer depletion, etc. will also become more threatening.
