★ Laterite Soil:
→ They are well developed in hills of Deccan Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha and parts of Assam and Meghalaya.
→ Formed as a result of leaching process.
→ They lack in fertility and normally of low value of crop production.
→ They are red in colour and composed of little clay and much gravel of sandstone.
→ Red laterite soils are more suitable for crops like cashew nut.
