Laterite Soil:

They are well developed in hills of Deccan Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha and parts of Assam and Meghalaya.

Formed as a result of leaching process.

They lack in fertility and normally of low value of crop production.

They are red in colour and composed of little clay and much gravel of sandstone.

Red laterite soils are more suitable for crops like cashew nut.
