River Indus :

  1. One of the longest rivers in the world.
  2. The Indus is the most important supplier of water resources to the Punjab and Sindh plains.
  3. It forms the backbone of agriculture and food production in Pakistan.
  4. The river has a total drainage area exceeding 1,165,000 km2 (450,000 sq mi).

River Ganga :

  1. Ganga water contains Oxygen levels 25 times higher than any other river in the world.
  2. It meets with River Brahmaputra and makes the largest delta of the world known as the Sundarban Delta which extends into Bangladesh.
  3. It makes one of the most fertile plains of the world.  
  4. Every year the flood that occurs,form flood plains which are very fertile and suitable for agriculture.

River Narmada :

  1. River Narmada originates in the Amarkantak hills in Madhya Pradesh. It flows through a rift valley.
  2. The river drains the parts of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. While flowing towards the west, the river creates many picturesque locations such as Dhuadhar falls.
  3. It flows towards the west and drain into the Arabian Sea.
  4. It is one of the rivers in India that flows in a rift valley, flowing west between the Satpura and Vindhya ranges.

River Brahmaputra :

  1. It originates from Tibet and is as long as the Indus. It flows parallel to the Himalayan mountains in Tibet.
  2. Flowing through a region of heavy rainfall in Assam and Bangladesh, the Brahmaputra is more important for inland navigation than for irrigation.

River Tapi :

  1. The river originates from Multai in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh in the Satpura range at an elevation of 752 meters above sea level.
  2. It forms the Tapi Basin which is the second-largest peninsular river.
  3. The river drains into the Arabian Sea.
  4. The Tapti River's three major tributaries—the Purna, Girna, and Panjhra—flow from the south in Maharashtra state
