The 3 types of skeletal muscle fibres are:
Red / Slow (Type I fibres, 'slow twitch fibres')
Red / Fast (Type IIa fibres, 'fast oxidative fibres')
White / Fast (Type IIb fibres, 'fast glycolytic fibres')
Type I fibers are used for repeated contractions of low intensity like jogging, walking, bicycling.
Type IIa fibers are used in activity needing speed and strength like medium weight lifting and medium sprints.
Type IIb fibers are used in activity needing short bursts of speed and strength like heavy weight lifting and short sprints.

difference between the three types of muscle fibres. Ans: The three types of muscle fibres are:- Striated muscles, smooth muscles and cardiac muscles.
muscle fibers are also referred to as striated, meaning striped or smooth. Cardiac muscle is striated. Smooth muscle, like skeletal muscle, is found throughout the body.
Difference Between Cardiac and Skeletal Muscle. Cardiac and skeletal muscles are both striated muscles. ... One of the main differences that can be seen is that cardiac muscles are involuntarily controlled, whereas the somatic nervous system controls the ovement of the skeletal muscles.
