Mass is the amount of matter in an object and weight is the measurement of the gravitational pull on an object. The mass of an object is the same no matter where it is, but the weight of an object changes with the location of that object. For example, the weight of an object on the Moon is 1/6ththat of the same object on Earth, while the mass of that object is exactly the same in both places. Weight is generally measured by using a scale and mass is generally measured by using a balance and comparing a known amount of matter to an uknown amount of matter in the object being measured.
