You need 3 rational numbers between -2 and 0.

To get first number, find the average of -2 and 0

First number = (-2 + 0)/2 = -1

Now find the average between -1 and 0

Second number = (-1 + 0)/2 = -1/2

Now find the average between -1/2 and 0.

Third number = (-1/2 + 0)/2 =( -1/2)/2 = -1/4

Three rational numbers between them are -1, -1/2 and -1/4.

What I did here is I went on finding the average between two numbers.
One number is taken from the initial number: I have taken 0, you could take -2 if you want. But whatever you take don't change it(for no confusion)
The other number the the number you got in the last step averaging.

You can keep on averaging and get infinite rational numbers between any two numbers.
