A dry cell is a kind of electric battery, which has zinc anode and carbon cathode, commonly used for the following applications :

•    portable torchlight

•    Table clock

•    Transistor radio set

•    Toys Dry cell It was developed by the German scientist Carl Gassner, in the year 1886.

It was developed after the invention of wet zinc-carbon batteries by Georges Leclanché in the year  1866.
