1. Write any two laws of exponents

In case of multiplication, if the base is the same and the powers are same or different, we add the powers while keeping the base same.

In case of division, if the base is the same and the powers are same or different, we subtract the power of the denominator from the power of the numerator while keeping the base same.

2. What is the scientific notation of 0.0000053

5.3 x 10^6

3. What is the remainder when a square number is divided by 3?

When a square number is divided by 3, the remainder will always be either 1 or 0.

4. Find the sum of first 7 odd numbers using the method of patterns

Lets write down the first 7 odd numbers

1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13

1 + 3 = 4 (square of 2) – remember its first 2 odd numbers

1 + 3 + 5 = 9 (square of 3) – first 3 odd numbers

1 + 3 + 5 + 7 = 16 (square of 4) – first 4 odd numbers

So we can conclude that the sum of first 7 odd numbers will be the square of 7 which is 49.

5. What is the least four digit number which is a perfect square number

By observation we see that the square of 30 is 900. Let’s take the next number (31). The square of 31 is 961. Let’s go to 32 whose square is 1024. So 1024 will be the smallest 4 digit number to be the perfect square.

6. How many digits will be there in square root of 14,641 by mere observation

By observation, we see that the square of 120 will be 14400 and that of 130 will be 16900. The given number (14,641) lies between these two numbers. Hence its square root will be a 3 digit number.

7. What is the cube of -6?

Cube of -6 will mean -6 x -6 x -6 = -216

8. What is the cube root of 125

125 can be written as 5 x 5 x 5. Hence its cube root is 5.

9. What is probability?

It is the extent upto which an event is probable to occur.

10. What is the formula for finding probability?

favorable outcomes divided by total number of outcomes.

11. What is statistics?

It is the science of collection and analysis of data.

12. Write the expanded form of 3513.

3 x 1000 + 5 x 100 + 1 x 10 + 3

13. Write the regular form of 10 ×6 + 514

574

14. What is the divisibility of 9?

Sum of all digits should be divisible by 9
