An oxide of boron reacts with ammonia and forms boron nitride and water. This reaction takes place under high temperature about 2000°C temperature is required to complete the reaction. Moreover, a catalyst of carbon or magnesium is also required to achieve the reaction.

B2O3 + 2NH3 → 2BN + 3H2O
2- When silicon tetrachloride reacts with water it produces silicon dioxide and hydrochloric acid.
