Democracy was established in the country of Pakistan in 1947, following the independence from the British Rule, and partition from India.

Politically, Pakistan is set up as a democratically elected parliamentary government. And it continues to function in that manner in the current time.

However throughout the history of Pakistan, there have been a number of time periods of military dictatorships and coups, which have put the concept of democracy in question a number of times.
