As observed after the Young's Double Slit experiment , the world scientists thought that it would as easier to identify and analyse the wave nature of lightest particle, because lower the mass , larger would be the Wavelength, which was formulated by De-Broglie in his hypothesis which ultimately came out to be true and obviously at that time the lightest known sub atomic particle was an electron, so Davisson and Germer chose to do this experiment.
