Answer:
There are several versions of the letter of Chief Seattle, following is a letter which captures the essence of his speech,
Explanation:
"President of Washington informed us that he wanted to buy our lands. But I am confused as to how can someone sell or buy the sky and the land? This idea seems quite strange to me for if we do not own the air we breathe in and the waters that flow then how can we sell them or buy them in fact?"
Whatever exists here, is in the holy memory of my people. Every part of this Earth, whether it may be the woods, the meadows, the creatures that reside here. Everything is a legacy of my people.
When the blood flows inside our bodies its just like the sap that courses in the trees. That is why we too are a part of this Earth. And this Earth too, is a part of us. We all creatures belong to the same family.
To sell them our land would be like us avoiding the water which sounds like my fathers' voice. Because nature is my brother and sister.
The nature is what feeds us and subsides our hunger and thirst so we should show the same compassion and love and care to it as we would show to our brothers.
If we were to sell our lands, what would we teach our upcoming generation. Because this nature is like our mother.
There is only one Almighty Creator and no one is white or red in this land, they are the same and at the end we are all brothers.
