Explanation:
an atom that lies on a face of a unit cell is shared by two adjacent unit cells and is therefore counted as 12 atom per unit cell. Similarly, an atom that lies on the edge of a unit cell is shared by four adjacent unit cells, so it contributes 14 atom to each.

As we know that in a cube:-
1. Number of face diagonals = 12
2. Number of body centre = 1
3. Number of edges = 12
4. Number of faces = 6
5. Number of body diagonals = 4
6. Number of corners = 8
Contribution of an atom at different lattice points of a cube:-
- As we can easily 8 common corners are present in the cube. So there will be 1/8 th portion present in the atom.
- We can see that in 2 cubes face is common so there will be contribution of 1/2 th part of an atom.
- In 4 cubes an edge of a cube is common so it will contribute as 1/4 th part of the atom.
- In any of the cubes center is not common that's why in a cube center one complete atom is available.
