Indus, is a river . Which starts from Himalayas, Karakoram .
But, the different ways of rainwater harvesting in different parts of india are:

These are ancient time/traditional rainwater harvesting system...
i) Guls or Kuls: In hilly and mountainous regions, people built diversion channels called Kuls or Guls in the Western Himalayas. A Kul or Gul leads to a circular village tank, from which water is released as and when required.
ii) Inundation Channels: In the flood plains of Bengal, people developed inundation channels to irrigate their fields.
iii) Khadins and Johads: In arid and semi-arid regions, agricultural fields were converted into rain fed storage structures that allowed the water to stand and moisten the soil, called ‘Khadins’ in Jaisalmer and ‘Johads’ in other parts of Rajasthan.
IV) Tankas: In Bikaner, Phalodi and Barmer of Rajasthan, almost all the houses traditionally had underground tanks or tankas for storing drinking water.

1. khadins and johads- in edit and semi arid regions in agricultural fields where converted into rainfed storage structures that allow the water to stand and moisture in soil like the Khadins in Jaisalmer and Johar in other parts of Rajasthan.

2. rooftop rainwater harvesting- people living in edit regions of Rajasthan and Gujarat where rainfall is scanty have found ways to store rainwater falling on rooftops.

3. Tankas are large underground tanks used stored in water in arid and semi-arid regions of Rajasthan.

4. inundation channels- in the flood Plains of Bengal people developing then inundation channels to irrigate their fields.

5. guls or kuls- in hilly and mountain regions people will diversion channels to collect rainwater.
