It was Monday when I was returning from my school to home. I was very happy as I got good marks in my test and thinking what my mother would say after seeing my test. On reaching my house, I rang the bell of the main gate, but there was no response. After two-three minutes, I tried to push the gate and to my surprise, it easily opened. I was thinking that why my mother had left the door unlocked.
As I entered, I saw all the things displaced from their original position. My cupboard was open and all my clothes were lying out on the bed, the television was on. The water was also overflowing from the bucket as the tap lay open. I couldn't understand what had happened in the house. In the morning, I had read about many news of robbery, kidnapping, etc., in the newspaper. I felt very frightened. I again called out to my mom, but there was no reply. I searched each and every room, but found nothing except silence. I rang my mother, but I found that her phone was in the house. I went to my neighbour, Mr. Singh's house and asked whether they knew anything, but I got no information from them. I decided to call my relatives, but just then, a car came to the door of my house and someone started honking repeatedly.
I quickly rushed to the door to see who it was and to my astonishment, I found my parents standing there. They were equally surprised to see me. My mother wept bitterly on seeing me and hugged me. She kissed my forehead repeatedly.
After an initial moment of shock and surprise, I asked them where they had been all this while. My father mentioned that my mother had received a call from a man who informed her that a boy in a school uniform, riding a bicycle was knocked down by a car. They got the number from the identity card he was wearing. They got panicked thinking that it was me who had met with an accident. In fear and panic leaving things as they were, they rushed to the spot only to find that the boy had been taken to a nearby hospital. Reaching the hospital they found that the boy's condition was serious and an operation was the need of the hour. So the boy was in the Operating Room fighting against death. They waited till the operation was over and the doctor came out with a smile and announced that the operation was successful and the boy will soon recover. They took a sigh of relief and then rushed back home thinking I would be waiting for them. When they saw me safe and sound this added to their happiness. After hearing their story, I told them that my friend and I were playing a prank and I had given my identity card to him and forgot to take it after school was over. Nevertheless, we were very glad that everything ended with well. I will never forget that day, as it got Mom, Dad and I closer than ever.

It was just another sunny day when I was in my university when at 3:30 pm, the bell had punctured the silence in the university as the class had completed and students could return to their home. So, after reaching my house, I rang the doorbell of the main entrance, but I found that there was no answer. After a few minutes, I tried to open the door and to my surprise, it was easily opened. I was wondering why my mother had left the door unlocked. As I entered my room, I was inside the wrong house until I found my family photo hanging on the wall and understood that the house was remodelled. So, I went to my room but was shocked to find nothing except a bed and a note for me that states:
“Your bed along with furniture are shifted on 2nd Floor”
So, after I went to see my new room on the 2nd floor; I was astonished to find that everything was new in my room. The room was modernised and comfortable, the room is painted light green, light grey curtains, a bookshelf, a new cupboard and an antique mirror. I was perplexed about what had happened in my house and why my house was remodelled. So after changing my clothes. I called my mother, but the call was interrupted as I got a call from my brother Jimmy and told me to come outside. So, I rushed to the door and found my brother outside and he immediately smiled and told me something which shocked me “I have a big surprise for you and our parents went to bring that”. After that, I was keen to know what the surprise could be. Soon after, we went inside our parents came but not with the gift but with a note that stated
“Be Ready To Get Thrilled and your Gift will be delivered at 6 pm sharp”
At 6 pm as mentioned, the doorbell rang and I was not expecting to see someone delivering an enormous box and I told my brother Jimmy “Is this the box that contains the big surprise?” and he nodded his head. After that, I went near the box and when I removed the strings, I was shocked to see a handsome man standing, looking at me and hugging me tightly and my brother Jimmy was smiling at me.
“Listen, Peter, he is none other than our eldest brother Chris who went to study abroad and after his study life was finished; he couldn’t return. Until one day he felt so bad for us and especially you that he finally came to meet you and the good news is that he is going to stay here forever.”
After hearing my brother Chris’ story, I felt so sad for him that I was weeping and once again he started to hug me tightly and wiped my tears and told me not to weep as he is not leaving anywhere now. Although I was happy that my brother Jimmy had made Chris finally come, I will never forget that day, as it got my brother Jimmy, Chris and me closer than ever.
