Characteristics:

• they have central gastrovascular cavity
• members of this phylum are aquatic in nature
• they have tissue level of body organisation
• diploblastic body nature is observed in them
• radially symmetrical body can be observed in them
• contain stinging cells on tenticles of body for defence, anchorage and capture of pray
• some of them contain stem cells which help them regeneration the parts of the body which are damaged or lost due to any reason
