Characteristics

• they are bilaterally symmetrical
• they show organ level of body organisation
• they don't possess a body cavity i.e.they are acoelomates
• they are triploblastic in nature i.e.they have 3 germ layers.
• fertilisation is internal and development includes many larval stages

eg: planaria,taenia and fasciola

Extra information:

1. they are also called as flat worms as they are Dorso-ventrally flattened.
2. most of them are parasitic.
3. have specialised cells called as flame cells which help in exertion and osmoregulation of the body
