Parenchyma is a type of simple permanent tissue.

1. They provide support and stores food.
2. They have large intercellular spaces.
3. They are loosely packed.
4. Sometimes they contain chlorophyll in that case they are known as chlorenchyma. Chlorenchyma helps in the process of photosynthesis because it contains chlorophyll.
5. In aquatic plants parenchyma have very large intercellular spaces between them then they are known as aerenchyma.
