Write down the changes that wiil be seen in each instance and explain the reason behind it.

a) 50ml water is added to 50ml solution of copper sulphate.

b) Two drops of the indicator phenlphthalein were added to 10ml solution of sodium hydroxide

Answer:

a) .When 50 mL water is added to 50 mL solution of copper sulphate, then reversible reaction occurs and the colour change from pale blue to white and then change back to blue when water is added again.

b) . When two drops of Phenolphthalein indicator are added to 10 mL solution of Sodium hydroxide, then the solution turns pink in colour because the acidic part of phenophthalein reacts with the base, it forms sodium salt of phenolphthalein which has pink color.
