Hey !!

MOLE FRACTION

FIRST LET US KNOW ABOUT WHAT IS A MOLE FRACTION.

It may be defined as the ratio of the number of moles of one component ( solute or solvent ) to the total number of moles of all the components present in the solution.

If in a solution na and nb are the moles of solvent and solute, respectively, then

                 xa = na / na + nb

Mole fraction of solute in the solution

                   xb = nb / na + nb

In a solution, sum of the mole fraction of all the components is unity.

Example :- In a binary solution ( having two components ),

                     xa + xb = 1

GOOD LUCK !!
