Explanation:

  • The elements affecting the climate are latitude, altitude and pressure and winds, distance from the sea (continentality), ocean currents and relief features.
  • Latitude and altitude: The most important climatic control is latitude. Latitude affects the temperature of a place. The places situated at higher altitudes which are far from equator receive lesser sunlight and places which are located towards the equator receives more sunlight and are hotter than the places located at higher latitudes. Sunlight also affects precipitation or rainfall. Thus, latitudinal position of a region decides the climate of the place.
  • Continentality is defined as measure of difference between continental and marine climates. As the distance from sea increases this moderating effect decreases and people face extreme weather conditions
  • Winds and air masses originate over oceans move onshore to the mainland and affect climate.
  • Ocean currents affect climate of coastal areas.

Required Answer:

The factors that affect climate are as follows:

1. Latitude: If latitude increases the average temperature of the place decreases and if latitude decreases the average temperature of the place increases.

2. Elevation: If elevation of the place is  at higher region or at high altitude the atmosphere thus experiences less pressure and low altitude then the atmosphere experiences high pressure

3. Ocean Currents:  Ocean currents are one of the main factors that able transfering heat energy from land to sea or from sea to land and hence affecting the temperature of the region.

4. Vegetation: Vegetation mostly includes trees in the region. The release of water vapour during photosynthesis into the air, it adapt the surface energy flows and leads to formation of clouds..

5. Prevailing winds: Prevailing winds bring air from one type of climate to another. When warm winds that travel over water tend to collect moisture as they travel.
