Mahatma Gandhi is very famous in India as “Bapu” or “Rastrapita”. The full name of him is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He was a great freedom fighter who led India as a leader of the nationalism against British rule. He was born on 2nd of October in 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat, India. He died on 30th of January in 1948. M.K. Gandhi was assassinated by the Hindu activist, Nathuram Godse, who was hanged later as a punishment by the government of India. He has been given another name by the Rabindranath Tagore as “Martyr of the Nation” since 1948.

A huge admirer of peace and the follower of non-violence, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi is one of the leading inspiration for modern leaders around the world. Nelson Mandela, the man who led freedom struggle in South Africa was inspired greatly by Bapu or Rashtrapati and was called as the 'Mahatma of Africa' due to his non-violent and peaceful practices borrowed from the principles from the Father of our nation. 

This influential man was born on October 2nd 1869, in Porbandar, Gujarat. His father, Mr. Karamchand Gandhi was a noble man and his mother. Putilibai was a simple and a religious woman. Bapu was greatly influenced by the ideas of Satya HarishChandra. He led the non coorporation movement, Salt Satyagraha or Dandi March, quit India movement, etc.

This man died on 30th January 1948 and was assassinated. The Raj Ghat is where he was assassinated.
