All chemical reactions require an input of energy in order to "get started," this is known as activation energy.  A catalyst is a molecule that speeds up a chemical reaction by lowering the activation energy required to start the react the energy required for a biochemical reaction to proceed.  Notice that the energy required to start this reaction is much lower in the presence of an enzyme that without an enzyme.  Enzymes are biological catalysts that carry out thousands of chemical reactions, which occur in living cells.  Enzymes are large protein molecules with specific three-dimensional structures.  Each enzyme catalyzes a specific reaction, or specific type of reaction, that involves specific substrates.

Hey..mate HERE'S YUR ANS...
The characteristic of enzyme action are..

1)Enzyme is a protein. The main material of an enzyme is protein
______________________________
2)It is easily influenced, by environmental change. Environmental factors include temperature, pH, and inhibitor.
______________________________
3)It acts as catalyst The enzyme functions in accelerating chemical reaction, but the enzyme itself does not change after the reaction ends
______________________________
4)It functions specifically. The enzyme only catalyzes one kind of substrate and cannot function for many substrates. The term is called one enzyme one substrate.
______________________________
5)It functions in reverse. It means the enzyme does not determine the direction of reaction, but it only functions in accelerating reaction rate until it reaches equilibrium. The enzyme also functions in substance synthesis and substance breaking down reaction. It
