as I am interested in geography not I think the answer is the northern plains do not contain Minerals and their made up of Alluvial soils while the peninsular plateau is made up of the mineral rocks and the parent Rock material they also have the forests and there is not much cultivation there as it is on the northern plains

THE NORTHERN PLATEAU
1.The northern plane is formed by three river system i .e the Indus , the Ganga and the Brahmaputra.
2.This plane is formed by alluvial soil .
3.This plane spreads over ab area of 7 lakh sq. km .
4.The plain are about 2400 km long and 320 km broad.
5.They are densely populated due to the fertile soil,adequate water supply, favourable climate and terrain.
THE PENINSULAR PLATEAU
1. This is a tableland and it is the oldest landmass.
2. It is composed of the old crystalline,igenous and metamorphic rocks.
3.It is formed due to the breaking up and drifting of gondavana land, and thus it is the oldest landmass.
4.The plateau has broad and shallow valleys and rounded hills.
5.The plateau consists of two broad divisions- central highlands and Deccan plateau.
