Some characteristics of lateral meristem are as follows:-

1. It usually occurs in the lateral side of any plant.

2. Circumference or we can say that girth will increase along to the increase in lateral meristem.

3. Actually in all the plants which are secondary meristem are considered to be lateral meristem.

4. But it may be both that is these meristem may be primary or even these can be secondary in case of the origin.

5. They are found in cylindrical shape usually.
