The following factors define the mechanism of monsoon in India --

(1) The differential heating and cooling of land creates low pressure on the landmass in Tibet and northeastern India. While the sea around India experiences high pressure.

(2) The INTER TROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE (ITCZ) is normally positioned
5° N of the equator . During summers it moves over the Gangs plain.

(3) The high pressure area of Madagascar approximately 20°S in Indian ocean also affects Indian monsoon.

(4) During summers the Tibetan plateau gets intensely heated which lead to the formation of vertical strong air currents in the upper air over this plateau.

(5) The change in the pressure conditions over the Pacific and Indian ocean in certain years known as southern oscillation also affects Indian monsoon.

These factors describe the mechanism of monsoon in India.
