It balances right brain and left brain, so optimum function of brain can be achieved.
There are many functions of the midbrain, including body temperature regulation, motor control i.e. body movements, and sleep cycles control.
The midbrain controls all of the responses related to sensory information and regulating the body’s actions to those responses.
The midbrain are generally responsible for unconscious reactions to external stimuli i.e. subconscious mind.
The midbrain acts as a sort of relay station for auditory and visual information.it controls the visual and auditory systems and touch senses and eye movement.
The midbrain controls and regulates dopamine production which is responsible for movements, memory, pleasurable reward, behavior and cognition, attention, sleep, mood, learning.

Hello friend
----------------------------------------------------
midbrain, also called mesencephalon,
Serves important functions in motor movement, especially movement of the eye, and in audile and visual processing . It is located within the brainstem and between the two other developmental regions of the brain,
Midbrain is comparatively small.
The tectum makes up the back portion of the midbrain and is formed by two paired rounded swellings, the superior and inferior colliculi.
The midbrain also contains a portion of the reticular formation, a neural network that is involved in arousal and alertness.
Cranial nerves in the midbrain that stimulate the muscles controlling eye movement, lens shape, and pupil diameter form the nuclear complex of the oculomotor nerve and the trochlear nucleus.

Hope it will help you
Thanks.
