Puberty in girls is marked by the start of the menstruation cycle, commonly referred to as periods.
A major physical development is that of the breast that grows during the teenage years and attains full growth by the age of 18 years.
Hair growth in the pubic area and the armpits are also observed. The normal cycle of hair growth that is seen in adults is reached by the average age of 14 years.
The adolescent years are also marked by a rapid growth spurt. In girls this growth spurt starts at the age of 11 or usually around the time she reaches menarche and slows down by the age of 16.
In boys, the scrotum and the testicles start to grow when they reach puberty.
The penis also increase in length and reaches the proper adult size and shape by the age of 17 or 18.There is a hair growth observed in the pubis area, armpits as well as the chest and the face.
This usually starts around the age of 12; by the time the boy reaches 18 years of age, the pattern of hair growth resembles those of adults.
The growth spurt starts at about 13 years and continues on to about 18 years of age. After that, the growth slows down.
Another physical change that is observed in adolescent boys is the change in their voices. Their vocal cords grow and as a result, the voice pitch changes into a heavier tone.
Physical development and changes at such a sudden and fast rate is quite something for the adolescent kid to deal with. This is the time when the child is in constant need of support and care.

Puberty is a period in human development during which the body changes as people transition from childhood to adulthood. It usually begins between ages 8 and 14 for girls and 9 and 13 for boys. During puberty older children and teens experience both, sexual changes as well as growth. The human body grows more quickly during puberty than any other time, except for babyhood. There are five stages of puberty and the changes associated with each stage are:

# stage one of puberty is referred to as prepubertal. It typically begins between the ages of 8 and 11 for girls or ages 9 and 12 for boys. The primary changes associated with this stage occur inside the body. Hormonal changes start to occur during this time. Girls develop the ability to produce production, while boys experience an increase in the production of testosterone.

# During stage two of puberty, the testicles in boys grow larger. Boys also starts to experience body odor. The second stage is where girls experience initial breast development. They also grow their first pubic hairs. Just like with boys, girls may develop body odor during stage two. Girls also have a growth spurt during this stage. The second stage of puberty starts at age 11 or 12 for girls and age 12 or 13 for boys.

# During stage three, boys between the ages of 13 to 14 starts to grow pubic hair. The penis and testicles grow larger, and boys experience an increase in erections. Ejaculations, and wet dreams, may also occur during this stage. Boys may experience changes in their voice. Breasts continue to develop for girls 12-13 years old in stage three. Hair begins to grow under girls armpits, and the vagina increases in size. Girls may experience vaginal discharge.

# Stage four 14 and 16, menstruation starts and pubic hair begin to have a more adult triangular pattern of growth. Ovulation may start now too, but it will not necessarily occur on a regular basis. (it is possible to have regular periods even if ovulation does not occur every month). In boys penis starts to grow in width too. Hair may begin to grow on the anus. The texture of the penis becomes more adult looking. Underarms and facial hairs increases as well. Skin gets oiler and the voice continues to deepen.

# Stage five boys and girls both reach their full adult height and and their body is fully developed.
