★ LICHEN are distinct group of organisms having two components .i.e algal component called phycobiont and fungal component called Mycobiont.

Algal components of lichens synthesis carbohydrates by photosynthesis and provides nutrition to fungal components and fungal components provides shelter and absorb minerals nutrients and water for its partner .Hence, lichen is an example of symbiosis.
