The sound is a vibration of a wave which is produced through a source and propagates throughout the medium (be it gas, liquid or solid), known as the transmission medium.

Humans are restricted to only few types of sound, as, they cannot handle larger frequencies of sound produced by the medium and the source, so, a typical Human (with a age of 20, older people have weaker tympanic membranes, so, the upper limit of the sound is even less and the frequency is quite low) the frequency lies between 20 Hertz (starting point, we can hear the whispering of the students with random vocals and rustling of the leaves, ultrasound cannot be perceived by the human brain so it becomes a lower limit), the higher limit being 20000 Hertz (the take off of a flight from a close range and the infrasound are not able to be recognised too by the human brain, sometimes tearing or rupturing the tympanic membrane because of a high frequency). The sound has a approximated speed of 343 metres per second, it can depend upon many mediums which can change the speed of sound, as, the density of a material or the medium can affect the speed of sound including the motion of the medium and its viscosity itself. A sound wave can be longitudinal or transverse depending upon the propagation of the medium.
