To the editor:
I was informed of a troubling incident that happened last Sunday. My mother was in one of those turn lanes that are in the middle of the road. She was trying to turn onto a road on the right, and there was another truck facing her trying to turn to the left. She could not fully see around the truck, but there didn’t seem to be any traffic, so she went ahead and turned.
She had not been able to see the black car coming at her and missed being plowed into by inches. The near miss alone was bad enough to scare her. As she continued home, the other car whipped around in the road and proceeded to follow her home
As she was trying to back into her garage, the owner of the black car pulled up in front of her driveway, got out of his car, walked up to the only open window, leaned into the car and started swearing and yelling at her about the driving.
The window was the back passenger seat behind the driver’s seat, where my 12-year-old nephew was at, and my 2-year-old son was in the seat next to him in his car seat.
This “gentleman” horrified my entire family. After he finished yelling at my mother, he climbed into his vehicle, slammed his door shut and took of speeding down our one-way street the wrong way.
I hope the male who was driving the car reads this and realizes how over-the-top his reaction was and how threatened he made my family feel.
Hopefully, he will work on his self-control so that if this happens again he does not do more than yelling. Road rage is scary.
I am thankful this man did not have a gun and did not do anything violent. People who suffer from road rage should not be allowed to drive, simply because accidents do happen and they do not seem to be able to calmly see what’s going on.
