Dear Swati,
I hope you are doing well. I recently went to visit the Bird sanctuary in Mumbai with my family. It was a wonderful opportunity for me as I love wildlife.
The bird sanctuary was very large. It was also very well kept. It was a delight to be able to watch the animals in their natural habitat. The National Park is home to over 40 species of mammals, 251 species of birds and 1000 plant species. Some of the most extraordinary animals could be seen roaming around in the natural environment. I was fortunate enough to see a gorilla and some very beautiful birds. I saw the magpie which was hard to spot at first but irresistibly beautiful when I finally spotted it. I was fascinated to see a leopard play with its cubs. They seemed oblivious to so many people watching them. It was a very educational and refreshing trip indeed.
On my way back home I started reflecting on why these birds needed to be protected even in their own homes. I was very furious when I realised animals were not safe in the very natural habitat because of animal poachers. I also felt sad when I remembered the inhuman treatment animals are subjected to by humans. The animals are chained and tortured for entertainment purposes. They are ill- fed and kept in unhygienic surroundings which ultimately lead to their death. It is very unfortunate that these beautiful animals are vanishing from the face of the Earth. We must do our bit to save them in every possible way. I hope to hear from you soon.
