Write major function of auxin
Answers
Answer:
Auxins promote stem elongation, inhibit growth of lateral buds (maintains apical dominance). They are produced in the stem, buds, and root tips. Example: Indole Acetic Acid (IA). Auxin is a plant hormone produced in the stem tip that promotes cell elongation.
Explanation:
The function of auxin are as follows:-
1) It causes cell elongation
2) It helps in callus culture (plant tissue culture ) .
3) Auxin move away from light so it control phototropic movement of root and shoot.
4) It causes apical dominance and break the apical dormancy but causes lateral dormancy.
5 ) It induces flowering and fruiting in plant
6) It enhances sweetness of the fruit
7 ) It increase rate of aerobic respiration, transpiration and translation ( protein synthesis )
8) It induces femaleness in plants
