Aphids are a type of insect pest , 1–3mm sized , soft-bodied insects that can be green, grey, or black. Common seasons are  spring and autumn, aphids can be winged or wingless and are usually slow-moving. Aphids cluster on the tips of the shoots and any fruit , sucking the sap from the plant, which reduces fruit or vegetable  plant vigour.

Caterpillars are usually the larval category of moths or butterflies. They are normally looked hairless, with a long cylindrical body of size 10–50mm long and range in colour. They generally attack leaves, stems, flowers, fruits and roots.
