Difference between Coagulation and Peptization:

  • Peptization: its is the process of forming a stable colloidal solution by adding an electrolyte which breaks up the precipitate and disperse into the colloid.
  • Coagulation: The process in which when an electrolyte is added, the charge disrupts the colloid and leads to formation of an aggregate.

Difference between Homogeneous Catalyst and Heterogeneous Catalyst:

  • If the phase of the catalyst is as same as the reactants in the process, it is known as Homogeneous catalyst.
  • if the phase of the catalyst is different to that of the reactants in the process, it is known as heterogeneous catalyst.

Difference between Multimolecular colloid and associated colloid:

  • If a lot number of atoms or small molecules leads to formation of a colloidal solution, then it is called multimolecular colloids.
  • some solution at low concentration acts as electrolyte, but in higher concentration, forms an colloid due to aggregation of ions. this is known as associated colloids or micelles.
