Water droplets are roughly spherical in nature and contain water with a refractive index that enables light to refract. When sunlight (white light) strikes water droplets suspended in air, it refracts and spreads into its constituent colors through dispersion.

It is the property by which light is spread out according to its color as it passes through an object.

◆ Examples-
1. Naturally -
When sunlight is paased through raindrop white light iz dispersed into seven colours (V-I-B-G-Y-O-R). This is called rainbow.

2. Manually -
When we shine light into prism, it gets divided into its component colors.
