a) Undesirable plants which are grown along with crops are called weeds

b) To turn the soil and loosen it - Ploughing

c) Bacteria present in roots of leguminous plants - Rhizobium

d) Rearing of animals at a large scale - Animal husbandry

Explanation of the terms-

  • Sometimes undesirable plants grow together with the crops. These plants are called weeds. They're either removed manually, by using machines, or by using chemicals called weedicides.
  • Harvesting is the process of cutting the crop and gathering them to move them to the market. The process of separating the chaff from the grain is known as threshing. Irrigation is the process of watering the plants in an exceeding field. Before all these steps comes the step of ploughing or tilling where the land is ploughed.
  • Leguminous plants belong to the family Leguminosae. These plants have a symbiotic association with the soil bacteria called the Rhizobium, which sleeps in their roots, forming root nodules and fixing atmospheric nitrogen into the nitrates and nitrites for the plants, and successively, the plants provide the nutrition to the bacteria.
  • Animal husbandry is a primary occupation that is practiced by many farmers and people as a side earning. In this process, the animals are reared and the products obtained from the animals are sold to gain money.
