Write preparation of hydrogen peroxide and explain the physical and chemical properties.
Answers
Answer:
PREPARATION OF 'Hydrogen Peroxide'
Hydrogen peroxide is prepared
by the electrolysis of 30% ice - cold H2SO4. When acidified sulfate solution is electrolyzed at highly current density , peroxide sulphate is obtained..
Chemical and Physical Properties of Hydrogen Peroxide:
It is in the photos....
Laboratory preparation:
Hydrogen peroxide can be prepared in the laboratory by allowing barium peroxide in its acidic form to get heated up, so that the extra amount of water can get evaporated quite easily and further gets reduced when pressure starts to act upon it. As a result of this, we get hydrogen peroxide.
The reaction is read as:
BaO2.8H2O + H2So4 →BaSO4 +H2O2 + 8H2O
Industrial preparation:
Again, in terms of industrial preparation, hydrogen peroxide can be prepared by performing the electrolysis of 30 percent of H2SO4 i.e. sulfuric acid and it goes up to a very high density in order to obtain peroxo-disulphate. This is further hydrolyzed to form hydrogen peroxide.
Physical properties:
Hydrogen peroxide exhibits physical properties of being pale blue colored liquid and has a boiling point of 423 K.
Chemical properties:
In terms of chemical properties, it performs oxidation reactions, and also acts as bleaching agent, and also used in reduction reactions.
