1) it is directional
2) it do not take part in resonance
3) Free rotation are possaible around single bond.

the property of sigma bonds are:
1)It is a covalent bond formed by a lateral or sideways overlap of atomic orbitals.
2)It is weak bond due to the lower extent of overlapping.
3)It is possible between two 'p' orbitals only.
4)Bond energy is less.
5)It is to be noted that pi bond is formed when sigma bond already exists.
