sodium metal is kept in kerosene to prevent it from coming in contact with oxygen and moisture.if it comes in contact, then there'll be a strong exothermic reaction, and a lot of heat is generated.

Answer:

Since we know that the Sodium is having a atomic number 11.So,it is having 1 electron in its last orbit.so it is very reactive to acquire the stability.

If it is kept in atmosphere then it gets reacted with oxygen present in air and produced sodium hydroxide. This reaction is highly exothermic in nature and produced a lot of heat. So, therefore sodium metal is kept in kerosene.
