I'm proud to be living in an independent country where I can flaunt my religion and don't have to worry about what people would think or say about it. I'm proud that I can study anywhere in India, even to go about and enjoy the rich cultural diversity, the different colourful traditions, I'm proud that India has rich beautiful places of interest, I'm proud of the hills, valleys, terrains, mountains, the rivers, the boundaries, the territories, the skies that cover the Indian Land...I'm proud that I can voice my opinion and excercise my freedom of expression.
And having said that I'm proud of our Freedom Fighters, the greatest ones who fought the fight and won the race. I'm proud of them who have never thought twice about what they would eventually lose, but because they cared for us, went ahead to fight for what they believed in. We're here enjoying so many rights because they gave away their yesterday.
I do wonder how life in India would be today, had they not loved the country, the land so dearly blessed. Would we be sitting here laughing and smiling over good times? Would we be here freely walking our walks, liesurely doing the things we love, would we be given chances to build our hopes and dreams again, would we be free?
