Chemo-receptors are also called chemo-sensor are specialized sensory receptors which convert chemical substance and generate biological signals. In general, chemo-receptor detect toxic or hazardous chemicals in external or internal environment of body. And the animals which do not have notochord are called non-chordates or invertebrates.

Earth worm is best example of non-chordates. Earth worm’s body is covered with chemo-receptors, which are cells that allow the worm to taste things and chemo-receptors are tiny sense organs which detect chemicals in the soil.

Chemoreceptors in non-chordates

Explanation:

  • Chemoreception, method by that organisms answer chemical stimuli in their environments that depends totally on the senses of style and smell. Chemoreception depends on chemicals that act as signals to manage cell operate, while not the chemical essentially being taken into the cell for metabolic functions.
  • whereas several chemicals, like hormones and neurotransmitters, occur at intervals organisms and serve to manage specific physiological activities, chemicals within the external setting are perceived by and elicit responses from whole organisms.
  • All animals and microorganisms like bacterium exhibit this latter form of chemoreception, however the 2 usually recognized chemo sensory systems are the senses of style, or gestation, and smell.
