DNA packaging in Eukaryotic cell-

  • DNA are packed by the help of histone proteins into microscopic nuclei.
  • the process is carried out by the formation of complexes called nucleosome .
  • nucleosomes are formed as a result of positively-charged proteins which strongly adhere to negatively-charged DNA.
  • each nucleosome is comprised of eight histone proteins which are wrapped around the DNA for 1.65 times.
  • further the nucleosomes are packed into thread called chromatin fibres.
