Tribal Revolts in the North East

Between 1826 and 1947, Assam was annexed by the British. To establish their control, the British followed the divide and rule policy to ensure that there would be very little coordination or contact between the  tribals and non tribals. Most of the tribals were declared excluded. There was also a steady migration of non-tribal groups into the North-East as a result of economic policies. This led  to the increasing insecurity of the tribal groups and caused them to rise in revolt.
