The East India Company sent an educational despatch to the governor Genera in the year 1854,which was issued by Charles Wood(president of the board of control of the company),where it came to be known as Wood's Despatch.
It placed some emphasies unto the benefits of a system of learning, prefferable to the oriental knowledge:
-Trends of life more so unto the Europeans, would change their tastes and desires and create a demand for British goods due to India were to begin to appreciate and buy things that were produced in Europe.
-Moral character of Indians would improve as per the aspect of European learning. It would make them to enhance the trait like truthful, honest thus supply the company with civil servants who could be trusted and depend upon.
-All matters regarding education were to be standardized by Education Departments of the government.
