Answer:

a Laterite is a soil and rock type rich in iron and aluminium, and is commonly considered to have formed in hot and wet tropical areas. Nearly all laterites are of rusty-red coloration, because of high iron oxide content. They develop by intensive and long-lasting weathering of the underlying parent rock

b.Arid soil : Arid soils are the soils of desert or semi-desert regions and colours varies from red to brown. The soil has sandy texture and salinity. As precipitation is very low the temperature is high and evaporation is faster making it lack in moisture and humus.

Answer:

Explanation: LATERITE SOIL -:

1.The word laterite originated from the Latin word later which means brick.

2.Laterite soil is formed due to intense leaching caused by tropical rainfall.

3.Humus content is less because the micro-organisms get destroyed due to high temperature.

4.This soil can be cultivated by using manure and fertilizers.

5.It is good for the cultivation of tea, coffee and cashew nut.

6.It is found in Kerala, Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa and Assam
