Dear Student,

● Platelets -

  • They are also called thrombocytes as they are essntial in blood clotting.
  • Normal platelet count should be in range of 150000-450000 platelets/ml blood.
  • Functions of platelets are -
  1. It stops bleeding by forming platelets plug.
  2. Platelets helps in both clot formation as well as clot retraction.
  3. They maintain integrity of vascular endothelium.

● Synapse -

  • Synapse is a junction between two neurons that allow transfer of information from one neuron to another neuron.
  • Transfer of information/signals takes place at synapse between two neurons.
  • It can be classified into chemical synapse and electrical synapse.
  • Synapse in which information is transferred by electrical impulses is called electrical synapse.
  • Synapse in which information is transferred by hormones is called chemical synapse.

Platelets:

Platelet is considered to be one blood corpuscles that originate from the megakaryocyte cells of the bone marrow and is associated with the homeostasis of the blood. It secretes platelet-derived thromboplastin that plays a major role in blood clotting.

Synapse:

Synapse is the junction between the two neurons, between the axon of the presynaptic neuron and the dendrite of the postsynaptic neuron. This is a junction of the neural fatigue, which relays the neural impulse chemically.
