Black soils are black in colour. It is also known as regur or black cotton soil. It is found in Deccan regions. It is found in Deccan trap[Basalt] region spread over northwest plateau.

•It is made of lava flows.
•It is made of extremely fine, clayey material.
•They are rich in calcium carbonate, magnesium, potash, and lime
•They are poor in phosphoric contents.
